10 Awesome Concepts That Were Wasted On Mediocre Movies

6. Godzilla (1998)

tumblr_lo6q2iPnWZ1qc1i9xo1_500 All right, so you could condense the plot Godzilla down to about four words ("giant lizard attacks city), but I maintain the same stance that I've had regarding the idea since I was four years old: it's freakin' great. The fact that the Godzilla movie we all think of when somebody says "Godzilla" is the shitty one with Matthew Broderick is disappointing, to say the least.Cloverfield is about as close as we've come since then, but I'm still holding out for America's true 'Zilla movie: one that blows us away, and doesn't try to cram in a load of unnecessary plot points. Just a whole host of interesting characters, played by a variety of actors I definitely haven't though about (Gary Oldman, Patrick Stewart, Joseph Gordon Levitt, Christoph Waltz, Jennifer Lawrence, and Robert De Niro as the Mayor of "New York") banding together to avoid getting stomped on by a giant reptilian foot. That'll be $10 million please, Hollywood. Oh, wait? Gareth Edwards (Monsters) is currently prepping a Godzilla movie as we speak, with Elizabeth Olsen in the main role? That could work too.
