10 Awesome Deleted Scenes That Should've Been Restored

2. Captain America Meets The Waitress - The Avengers

The Scene: Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) sits in his apartment reflecting on the changes that have occurred during his time in the deep freeze, namely the deaths of most of his comrades, save for Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell). He considers calling her but instead wanders around New York, stops off at a cafe and has a brief chat with a cute waitress (Ashley Johnson), before Stan Lee tells him to ask for her number (and calls him a moron).

Why It Was Deleted: Almost certainly a pacing issue given the 143 minute run-time and the real need for the film to get some momentum in its first act.

Why It Should've Stayed In: Because it gives Cap some vital character development and explains why Joss Whedon keeps focusing on the waitress later on in the movie. Without this frame of reference, it just seems weird. Plus, it's great to see Cap drawing, a callback to his pre-serum days.
