This is a very cool theory and one that actually makes quite a lot of sense given both the circumstances in which Vision comes to be in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the contract situation with Robert Downey, Jr. as Iron Man. Joss Whedon has already stated that Ultron is not being created by Hank Pym, as he is in the comics, and that it will be Tony Stark who creates him, citing the fact that he wanted the character to come from within the existing Avengers group - so what about if he quite literally does the same with Vision. Stark created Ultron as a supposed fail safe against emerging global threats. Granted, it is all going to go wrong, but what if he created Vision as a fail safe against his own death? Vision is going to feature the artificial intelligence of JARVIS - just like Tony Stark's Iron Man armours - and we already know that human essence can be transferred in to technology in the MCU (see Arnim Zola for details), so what if Vision was created as a potential source for Tony Stark's own life essence in the event of his body being destroyed? Imagine if Vision houses Tony's soul and still has the accompanying JARVIS as an A.I. - with JARVIS being Tony's co-pilot even after his death. It would allow Downey, Jr. to continue in the MCU in a voice role only - which would obviously take less of his time up - and, given that "Iron Man" has already been party killed off due to Tony Stark having his arc reactor removed, that could have foreshadowed his imminent potential death in Age of Ultron - the second half of which could see Tony Stark in a new, android form. The final fight in the movie could then be Ultron versus Vision, with Tony Stark - differentiated from the villainous robot by virtue of his human soul - somewhat making up for creating the robot in the first place by defeating it in a robot body of his own.
