10 Awesome Fan Theories That Improve The Spider-Man Films

1. Each Amazing Spider-Man Villain Represents A Different Aspect Of Peter Parker's Life

There is an intriguing fan theory that suggests that the villains in the Amazing Spider-Man movies aren't just generic bad guys, but that each one represents a different aspect of Peter Parker - specifically the aspect of his life that he feels the most responsibility for at that particular point. Lizard represents Uncle Ben's killer, because both he and the killer are allies (albeit briefly) of Peter before they commit acts of crime, and because both his and the killer's crimes were aided by Peter, even if it was by accident. Electro represents Spider-Man's responsibility for protecting people in general and, is a representation of the struggle Spider-Man has in his relationship with the general public. In other words, Electro represents the struggle Spider-Man has in becoming a symbol of hope as he tries to make people accept him as a hero. Green Goblin represents the often crippling fear Spider-Man has about letting people down and failing those closest to him - emphasised specifically by the fact this villain was the one who caused the death of Gwen Stacy. Rhino is Spider-Man's opposite, as he has no qualms about killing people; Rhino therefore represents the flipside of the moral responsibility that Spider-Man has to go about his business without ending lives, and the struggles he faces to do so. There are even theories about upcoming villains Mysterio and Kraven, with Mysterio said to represent the sacrifice Peter Parker makes with regards to his own happiness and transparency in order to protect those he loves, and Kraven said to represent the facts that Spider-Man is indeed a freak (and is therefore hunted like an animal), as well as representing the responsibility he feels to not lose sight of the important things of life in favour of revenge.
