1. Batman Forever/Batman & Robin Were In-Universe Movies Based On Burton's Batman
There is a theory that the Joel Schumacher Batman movies were actually produced within Tim Burton's Batman universe and were movies made about the "real" Batman portrayed by Michael Keaton. It's actually a very believable theory because, at the end of Batman Returns, Batman was led to believe that the woman he loved (Catwoman) was dead. The theory imagines that Batman quits being a hero due to his guilt and heartbreak, reveals his true identity to the world, and then movies were made about his exploits. It suggests that the on-screen Batman (Keaton) was then played by two different actors (Val Kilmer and George Clooney), which explains his change in appearance, and that the movies were a colourful, kid-friendly escape from the grim reality lived by people in Gotham City. Just look at the differences in the appearances of the "real" Gotham in Burton's movies and the ones depicted in Schumacher's movies. Burton's Gotham is dark, industrial and gothic, while Schumacher's is neon and bright. The theory also explains why Harvey Dent's changes race and his character in general alters in the Schumacher offerings. This theory improves everything regarding the movies in question, mainly because it essentially pretends that the awful Schumacher movies don't actual exist.
