10. Joker Wants To Expose Harvey Dent As Batman, Not Kill Him

When the Joker interrupts the fundraiser for Harvey Dent held by Bruce Wayne, it is meant to be with the intention of killing him. One fan theory states that isn't the case at all and that all he actually wanted to do was expose the district attorney as Batman. At said fundraiser, both Batman and Rachel Dawes fall out of the building in which it's being held and it's at that point that the Joker and his thugs appear to stop looking for Dent, even though their plan of finding him and exposing him hadn't changed - the reason being that they think it is Dent (in his Batman gear) who fell out of the building with Dawes, so there's no reason to keep looking for him at the gathering. This idea is complicated by the later kidnapping of Dent, but those adamant about the original theory believe that the Joker knew Dent would be able to escape the kidnapping and, given that the building with him inside it would supposedly be empty after he escaped, that would simply be another way of proving he was the vigilante hero. If nothing else, the theory makes the Joker that little bit more like his comic book self and portrays him as being deeper and more complex than a mere insane killer.
