10 Awesome Female Directors Who Need A Superhero Movie

9. Lana & Lilly Wachowski

The Wachowskis are two of the most iconic female filmmakers working today, though there's certainly a compelling argument that they wouldn't have enjoyed such enormous success with The Matrix franchise had they entered the industry as women, having of course both come out as transgender in recent years.

While the duo's more recent efforts have been rather on the inconsistent side, their penchant for tackling visually stunning set-pieces featuring larger-than-life characters makes them a prime candidate for a superhero flick. Just maybe let someone else write it.

How Likely Is It?: The Wachowskis themselves admit that Jupiter Ascending's failure impacted their ability to get hired for big-budget tentpoles, but considering that The Matrix films were basically already superhero movies, they're clearly qualified, and with the right script it's easy to imagine them making a comeback eventually. 6/10
