It's explained part-way through Netflix's new superhero-action flick Project Power (2020) that individuals who take the 'Power' pill will be blessed with one of a number of superpowers for five minutes.

Each of these powers derive from a specific animal. For example, some people gain the ability to effectively camouflage like an octopus.

Yet, despite seeing Frank Shaver's (Joseph Gordon Levitt) and a whole host of other character's pill-induced powers at numerous points in the flick, we only learn of Art's (Jamie Foxx) specific ability in the closing stages of the story.

After being captured late in the day, Art explains to a guard that he has been blessed with the power of the pistol shrimp. This rather innocent looking animal moves so fast that it vaporises the water around it, with temperatures hitting nearly 8,000 degrees; hotter than the surface of the sun. It's also known for having one claw bigger than the other.

This is important as just before Art finally showcases his seismic power to rescue Robin (Dominique Fishback), he's seen clearly holding up both his arms in an attempt to calm down the situation. One is heavily bandaged from a burn earlier in the movie, meaning Art now resembles the animal with asymmetrical limbs which his powers come from.

What follows is undoubtedly one of the coolest and devastating shows of superhero force in the flick, and this little visual simply acts as a warning of what is about to come.

You don't mess with the pistol shrimp.
