7. The Fly: The Monkey-Cat Scene

Just as Seth Brundle shed his body parts during his sickening transformation, The Fly shed scenes during its production cycle.

The most memorable is what the fans refer to as the monkey-cat sequence, during which a crazed Brundlefly uses his telepods to merge a baboon and a feline while researching a cure for his condition.

Rather than give him insight into his metamorphosis, this little experiment creates a hideous mess of a creature with two heads that needs to be put out of its misery.

As the scene goes on, an insect appendage bursts from Brundlefly's side and he amputates it using his teeth. Vom!

The inclusion of the monkey-cat scene would have given the audience more insight into Seth's cure subplot, as his experiment was a dummy run for the gene-swapping he attempted to force Veronica into at the end of the film.

Director David Cronenberg took the swatter to this footage following a test screening in which the audience reported losing sympathy for Seth because he was being cruel to animals. Cruel is putting it lightly.
