10 Awesome Horror Movie Villains (With Surprisingly Low Kill Counts)

1. John Kramer (Saw)

Okay, okay, so this one is a bit of a cheat answer, but as Dr. Lawrence Gordon says in the first instalment of the gruesome franchise, "technically speaking, he's not really a murderer. He never killed anyone. He finds ways for his victims to kill themselves."

And with a bit of bending the facts, that is kind of true. John Kramer aka Jigsaw, puts his victims in sadistic traps in order to test their will, many of which cause them to die of their own actions.

The Saw franchise is often dubbed as the film that created the 'torture porn' sub-genre, garnering a well-known reputation for its blood and guts. The first thing that comes to mind when the franchise comes up in conversation is the ever-increasingly grotesque methods of death, which makes it even more surprising about John Kramer's supposed 'innocence'.

It is also worth noting that a lot of the Jigsaw traps are assembled and operated by any one of John's numerous apprentices. Whether its Amanda, Hoffman or Logan, his apprentices are quite often the ones abducting the victims and placing them into the traps. It would more than certainly not hold up in a court of law, but is John Kramer innocent of any murders?

If I'm not talking about films, I'm watching them.
