10 Awesome Horror Movie Villains (With Surprisingly Low Kill Counts)

2. Brundlefly (The Fly)

David Cronenberg's The Fly is 1980s body horror at its finest. Scientist Seth Brundle, invents a teleportation device which he accidentally uses when there is a common housefly in the pod with him. Over time, Brundle's DNA begins to fuse with that of the fly and his body is horribly transformed into something monstrous. The imagery of the scientist (played brilliantly by Jeff Goldblum) slowly become more and more compromised is difficult to watch.

Brundle begins to lose his humanity and starts to act increasingly more primitive, becoming threatening towards his romantic partner, Ronnie. When threatened, the self-dubbed 'Brundlefly' does use his corrosive vomit to dissolve a man's foot leaving him mortally wounded, however, he is not directly responsible for any deaths.

Body horror is a fascinating subgenre that was perfected best by Cronenberg himself during the 1980s, with this film and his others, including Videodrome and Scanners. These films deal more with the break down of the protagonists themselves (both mentally and physically), rather than the damage they inflict on others, making it clear why Brundlefly has such a harmless kill count.
