10 Awesome Horror Movie Villains (With Surprisingly Low Kill Counts)

5. Sam (Trick 'R Treat)

The child-like mascot of the delightful Halloween-set film Trick 'r Treat, is known simply as Sam. Although the film is slowly gaining the attention it deserves, Sam himself has been a fairly recognisable horror icon over the years. Sporting a sack over his head and an orange jumpsuit, this little guy watches on through a number of disturbing events in the film in an almost narrator-like role.

He does get a story of his own at the end of the film in its final chapter, where the troublemaker terrorises Brian Cox's elderly character. His only kill of the film however, comes at the very start during the prologue sequence. Sam dismembers a woman using a broken lollipop after she blows the candle of a Jack-o'-lantern out.

Perhaps because the film opens with such a disturbing murder, audiences expected Sam to be committing mayhem throughout, whereas this was clearly not the case. Despite his low kill count, Sam continues to be a recognisable mascot for both the film, and the horror genre.
