10 Awesome Horror Movies You Probably Missed In 2018

An indie filmmaking duo whose output just keeps getting better and better, Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead’s The Endless is the latest addition to their growing oeuvre of genre mash-up horror movies.

A sequel of sorts to the duo’s first joint project 2012’s Resolution, it’s a trippy sci-fi horror with Lovecraftian leanings that stars the directors themselves as a pair of brothers who return to the UFO suicide cult they left years previously after receiving a mysterious videotape that lures them back from their depressing post-commune lives.

Soon enough, the brothers discover there may be some truth to the cult’s weird belief system in what’s a cerebral and unnerving meditation on time, memory and mythology.

Thanks to a criminally limited theatrical run The Endless didn’t get half the attention it deserved and it’s not difficult to see why its been largely ignored by the mainstream. Ditching jump scares and gore for slow-burning unease, it’s not a film that will appeal to everyone but for genre hounds who like their horrors thought-provoking it’s perfect.
