10 Awesome Horrors To Watch This Halloween

3. The Shining

"Here's Johnny!" I had to pick a classic horror to give this list any semblance of credibility, really, so here it is. This 1980 psychological horror starring Jack Nicholson is an adaptation of Steven King's novel of the same name and follows writer Jack Torrance's descent into madness as he succumbs from Cabain Fever having spent a bit too long in an isolated hotel cut off to the rest of the world by heavy snow drifts. Torrence's descent into madness is compounded when a ghost at a costume party informs him that he should "correct" his wife and child, before he launches a campaign to murder the pair. One of the most compelling parts of The Shining is the ambiguous presence of ghosts in the story, which concludes with the viewer questioning if they were a mere presence of Jack's imagination.
