2. 28 Days Later
Directed by British film maker Danny Boyle, 28 Days Later is a re-imaging of the zombie sub-culture of the horror genre, and focuses on a high contagious air-born "Rage Virus" - an endemic that turns the infected into murderous zombie-like creatures. Here, Boyle masterfully balances scenes of gore and frenetic story-telling with scenes of intimate beauty and awe; The scene of Jim walking down an isolated and abandoned Westminster Bridge is inspired, whilst the moment when he discovers his dead parents with a heart-rending letter addressed to him really gives the film substance and depth. For a minute though, forget all that film jargon - it's a film with murderous zombies and much like George A. Romero's
Of The Dead series is well worth a watch.
