10 Awesome Movie Animals We Wish We Had As Pets

10. Hedwig (Harry Potter Series)

Loyalty is one of the most vital traits we all look for in a pet, and few come as loyal as Harry Potter€™s snowy owl, Hedwig. Before e-mail and text messaging became a thing, the wizarding community used owls as a form of communication and postal service (even on Sundays). Hedwig is no ordinary post-owl; she€™s a vastly intelligent, proud creature who will go far and beyond to give Harry just a glimmer of happiness €“ even going as far as to fly to France to collect a package from Hermoine just so Harry can have a present to open on his birthday. Harry spends his childhood going through one hell after another: from growing up in a cupboard underneath the stairs to being hunted by Voldemort and his Death Eaters. During his darkest moments when he was at his loneliest, it€™s Hedwig that keeps him company and protects him when he needs it the most. Hedwig is one of the first beings to show Harry affection after years of abuse from the Dursleys. In the final book, JK Rowling went a little George RR Martin on her fans and decided the fate of every character was up to the flip of a coin. Unfortunately for us, Hedwig is the first major casualty of the final film, throwing herself in between Harry and the killing curse before spiralling lifelessly to the ground as Harry (and the audience) watch in sorrow. Her loyalty, beauty and intelligence make her an ideal pet for anyone; especially those with a flair for magic.
