10 Awesome Movie Characters Ruined By Terrible Writing

6. David Dunn - Glass

M. Night Shyamalan's cult classic superhero thriller Unbreakable introduced audiences to David Dunn (Bruce Willis), the sole survivor of a horrific train crash who comes to learn that he harbours superhuman abilities.

Dunn discovers over the course of the film that in addition to being invulnerable, he also possesses superman strength and the ability to read people's minds by touching them.

When Shyamalan's Split turned out to be a secret sequel to Unbreakable, complete with a shock last-minute appearance from Dunn himself, the stage seemed very much set for the third film, Glass, to deliver an epic conclusion to Dunn's story.

But Glass sadly turned out to be one of the biggest cinematic disappointments of the last few years, culminating in the deaths of not only Dunn but also fellow superhumans The Horde (James McAvoy) and Mr. Glass (Samuel L. Jackson).

It wasn't inherently bad that Dunn died at the end of the movie, but the utterly pathetic way in which it happened left an incredibly sour taste.

Though Unbreakable firmly established Dunn's weakness as water, it was still frustratingly anti-climactic to see him casually drowned in a small puddle by a random goon in the film's finale.

While in many ways this seemed to be the point, that Shyamalan was trying to deliver a more grounded superhero movie, at the end of the day it felt like a colossal waste to kill a likeable hero in such a lame, unheroic way.
