Well do ya, punk?" Yes, you read that right. One of the city's best-known exports has travelled far and wide, and along the way it's attracted the attentions of grizzled screen legend Clint Eastwood. He who brandished a Magnum at a succession of whackjobs in the Dirty Harry series and spat a metric ton of tobacco in the Spaghetti Westerns of Sergio Leone. Reportedly Newcy Brown is the big man's favourite. The rich dark quality of the ale went down a storm across the pond, where they generally prefer their mind-smashing beverages light and chilled. Not an issue where the Newcastle nectar is concerned. So the next time you see Eastwood onscreen, raise a toast to him for his sterling efforts keeping Brown Ale in the spotlight.
