5. Journey To The Far Side of The Sun
This was the first live action film by Gerry and Sylvie Anderson, famous for creating Thunderbirds. It stars the legendary (he is in my house anyway) Roy Thinnes, who played David Vincent in the TV show The Invaders. I loved The Invaders as a child. Watching re-runs on a Sunday afternoon, the concept of aliens living amongst us and looking like us thrilled and scared me in equal measure. Thinnes is worth the price of admission alone and is great as astronaut Glenn Ross in a story of parallel universes. And whilst the production had a troubled time and the movie was panned on release, the Andersons should be given credit for writing an interesting story with a daring twist in the tail. This an ideal movie for watching on a rainy Sunday afternoon.
