10 Awesome Movie Monsters Only In One Scene
4. Merman - Cabin In The Woods
Mention of the Cabin in the Woods is pretty much mandatory for one-time monsters making their debut before swiftly disappearing again. When a secret government facility designed to manufacture horror movie tropes is sent into a system purge, all manner of creatures are set free from the depths. Everything from staple classic favourites - and copyright friendly versions of classic favourites - to brand new and original beings are unleashed from their cages, happily shredding any and everything they collide with into disgusting human pulp.
But amongst the dismemberment goblins, zombie redneck torture families, and dragonbats, there lies one entity a little different to the rest. One entity that has a beloved, special place in technician Steve Hadley's heart - which is particularly endearing since it all but tears it out as soon as it meets him.
Of course, the Merman crawls his way up from deep within the facility to enact his watery revenge on the man that wanted to see him the most, revealing his grisly visage in the process. His lank hair and angler-fish features are a world away from what Disney had us belevinig of merfolk, to say the least.
