The Skywalker Saga wasn't exactly lacking in the emotional lightsaber duel department.

However, arguably the most important battle between Force-users in the franchise's history went down on the Death Star II as Luke Skywalker engaged in a legendary fight with his father in front of the Emperor in Return of the Jedi.

Iconic dialogue, gripping lightsaber action, John Williams' powerful score, and a climax for the ages as Darth Vader finally redeemed himself to save his boy, this showdown had it all.

Including a few rather bizarre and easily missed mistakes!

Specifically, there's quite a bit of lightsaber oddness throughout this father/son clash.

Firstly, when Vader decides to launch his weapon at Luke on a balcony above, a few rewinds and slowing down the moment reveals his blade is bizarrely shooting out of the bottom of the hilt.

Then, later on in the scene, the former Anakin Skywalker can briefly be seen walking around with two lightsabers, despite it never being explain how or why he has the other on his person.

According to this Film Theorists video, this was actually the remnant of a deleted scene involving Vader taking control of Luke's weapon mid-fight, seemingly being left in the sequence as a continuity error in the end.

George Lucas went back and changed many things about his OG trilogy, but clearly felt these lightsaber gaffes were just... fine?
