2. Darth Maul Lightsaber
The Star Wars prequels were bedevilled by garbled plotting, weak characters and tedious bouts of politicking, but they did contain some fantastic set pieces. The best of these came in The Phantom Menace, when Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan Kenobi team up against Darth Maul, only for the Sith Lord to reveal a double-sided lightsaber. Not only did the prop look fantastic, but it enabled actor Ray Park to use his martial arts experience to make the most out of the weapon.
Those of you who intend to put on a few holiday pounds over Christmas might want to wait off for a while before attempting the same, but it is a limited edition: only 500 manufactured-scale models were made from a direct cast of the props used in the film. Complete with a numbered plaque and stand (and Park's signature), it is probably one of the ultimate pieces of Star Wars memorabilia. Considering this, the price of around £500 seems quite reasonable. Just be warned that walking around with it for days on end, making 'swooshing' noises and muttering about the Dark Side can quickly become intolerable.
