10 Awesome Movie Twists You Can Legitimately Ruin For People

7. Not Knowing Can Ruin The Film - The Usual Suspects

keyser sozeThe Twist: Verbal Kint is Keyser Soze. The Usual Suspects has one of the greatest twists of all time. Believe it or not, that sentence in itself is a spoiler. But unlike another nineties classic on this list still come it can also spoil the enjoyment of the film. In many cases knowing there€™s a twist means you avidly obsess over all the clues a director has slipped in, but with The Usual Suspects you€™re most likely to just end up frustrated. Aside from a couple of sly moments (Keyser has thick piss in the opening just like Verbal said he has) there€™s little to grab onto. You get more involved with the twist than the plot and just end up frustrated. The film€™s twist works because we€™re dealing with an unreliable narrator, but it€™s done so naturalistically we don€™t realise; even when Verbal has to add in the Kobayashi meeting it feels genuine to the chronology. If you know there€™s a twist on the way, however, it€™s easy to not get hooked So for the love of all that is brilliant about this movie tell anyone who knows there€™s a twist what it is; you€™re saving them in the long run.
