10 Awesome Movie Villains That Had Totally Lame Deaths

9. Freddy Krueger - A Nightmare On Elm Street (1984)

Emperor Death Star Wars
New Line Cinema

Freddy Krueger just refuses to stay dead. He's been killed and resurrected a total of ten times (including New Nightmare, Freddy's Nightmares and the 2010 reboot) and still, at the age of 72, Pizza Face himself, Robert Englund, has been doing the rounds recently on the subject of a new series of adventures for the supernatural slasher.

Killing Freddy has always seemed a futile endeavour, he just keeps coming back for more, despite all his adversaries best efforts to sing him a lullaby. This speaks volumes about the popularity of the character, who first appeared in Wes Craven's classic slasher blood bath A Nightmare On Elm Street.

Starring Heather Langenkamp and a very young Johnny Depp in a crop-top, the first movie still remains the gold standard of Freddy flicks. Standout moments include the genuinely unnerving Tina kill - she's dragged over the bedroom ceiling and eviscerated right in front of her boyfriend's face.

In the film's climax, Nancy has lost most of her friends (Glen is sucked into his own bed and sprayed back out in liquid form), including her own mother, burned and eaten by another bed. Nancy realises at the last minute that the only way to defeat Freddy is to take his power away. She turns her back on him and he disappears in a puff of eighties optical FX. "I take back every bit of energy I gave you. You're nothing. You're s**t."

Well that settles that then. Lame.
