10 Awesome Movies That Have Aged Horribly

1. Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aU9A_oN6NV8 I love Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom; it's frequently marked out as the worst of the three Indy films, but to me, it's without question the best, despite arguably having the most flaws, namely Kate Capshaw (Mrs. Spielberg herself) playing the shrieking harpy Willie Scott, and the rather insensitive portrayal of India (for which the director has received plenty of flak over the years). It's still a thoroughly enjoyable adventure serial, though the aspect that most makes it seem dated is the use of a minority character (Ke Huy Quan's Short Round) for comic relief. In this day and age, we like to think that we're past this sort of stereotyping, but it wasn't so back in 1984, with Short Round being used to ladel out some cute gags with his poor English, basically saying "Very funny, Dr. Jones!" every five minutes. To contemporary audiences, the film's depiction of Short Round combined with its portrayal of Indians as either impoverished or mystical psychopaths must make the film seem pretty out of touch, but put this aside and it's still ludicrously entertaining, even one of Spielberg's best.
