10 Awesome Movies That Have Aged Horribly

8. TRON

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1fSUos8x73I Live-action Disney movies don't exactly have a grand track record, though 1982's TRON is a ground-breaking spectacle when considered within the context of cinema. The problem is that most people don't care about context, and thus the film just can't stack up to today's more sophisticated, effects-driven fare, including its own sequel, the unfairly derided Tron: Legacy. At the time of its release, TRON's use of complex visual effects was staggering - so staggering, in fact, that the Academy Awards hadn't yet bought into it, and disqualified it from a Visual Effects nomination for "cheating" by using computers - but watching the film now, it looks like a risible, low-budget film anyone could mock up with a few lights and Adobe After Effects. Does the film still have its charm? Absolutely, but that only really works if you're already acquainted with the film; a fresh audience probably isn't patient enough to buy into the story given how distractingly dated the effects are, especially when they can just watch the sequel instead and get the general idea.
