10 Awesome Movies That STILL Aren't On Blu-Ray

It goes without saying that the movies which most deserve Blu-Ray releases are those that can be truly appreciated from a visual perspective, and few films fit that criteria better than Steven Soderbergh's Solaris.

Starring George Clooney and Natasha McElhone, the James Cameron-produced film was set mostly on a space station that was orbiting the planet Solaris, leading the protagonist (Clooney) to suffer apparent hallucinations and question reality itself. While it was undoubtedly psychologically thrilling, its greatest strengths lay in its visuals, as it was full of beautiful exterior shots of both the space station and Solaris itself - which looked nothing short of radiant whenever it appeared on-screen.

It's hardly surprising that Solaris radiated in the way that it did; Soderbergh's an expert at thought-provokingly visual cinematography while anything that James Cameron is a part of is bound to jump off the screen - so it's rather confounding that it hasn't hit the Blu-Ray shelves yet.

There is a somewhat updated HD version available on iTunes (and on an incredibly rare region-locked German Blu-Ray) but it looks like fans won't have to wait much longer to see the film as it was meant to be seen as it's currently being remastered in 4K HDR. It might take some time but it seems like we'll eventually get that long-awaited (and widely available) Blu-Ray release.

Then, we will finally see those intoxicating colours of Solaris in all their glory.
