2. Dom Cobb - Inception
Not quite the blandest of all the bland heroes included on this list, but an offender, nonetheless: Dom Cobb is the troubled hero of Christopher Nolan's
Inception, and troubled is just about the only memorable trait that this excessive exposition machine of a character inhabits. Other than that, he's just... well, Leonardo DiCaprio, really. Of course, given the dense nature of the script, it's easy to forget that this movie comes complete with a generic protagonist. Think about it: Tom Hardy's Eames, Joseph Gordon-Levitt's Arthur, even that guy with all the potions... these characters come embedded with a sense of history and natural flair that Cobb lacks. He mostly just seems like he's there to lead us through proceedings, with a backstory thrown in so that we can later empathise with him. He's not a bad or terrible protagonist, but I doubt anybody thinks about Cobb as a person when they think about
Inception. A shame.
