10 Awesome Movies That Totally Didn’t Give A Damn

2. Independence Day: Resurgence

Here's a controversial statement for you: in an attempt to make a good, serious sci-fi as a follow-up to Independence Day, 20th Century Fox and Roland Emmerich accidentally made the biggest budget SyFy Channel parody movie. And the second you realise that it's actually a black comedy farce, you suddenly start to notice it's a work of art.

Nothing any of the characters says can possibly be taken seriously, so awful is the script; most of the characters are so boring you won't remember them a scene after they appear and the story is nonsensical. But about halfway through, Emmerich seems to have realised all of this for himself and gone full Fast & Furious by escalating the insanity.

The result is a sci-fi that absolutely gives no f*cks, introducing a sentient Apple iPod out of nowhere at one point and then teasing a sequel in which Jeff Goldblum would lead a human resistance of about 14 people against the alien homeworld that couldn't ever possibly be made. It's glorious.
