10 Awesome Movies You Won't Believe Got A Rotten Rating On RottenTomatoes

3. The A-Team

Tomatometer Rating: 47% Remaking The A-Team was always going to be a tricky job. It's an inherently eighties show that almost prided itself in its family friendliness (nobody ever dies), which makes it an odd fit in our PG-13 dominated movie landscape. Toss in a sizeable, nostalgic fan base and you've got all the ingredients for a much hated reboot. A movie based on the long-running series had been in the works for decades, over time going from being a capitalisation on its popularity, to a reunion, and finally to a complete restart. Unlike other remakes, however, there was clearly an effort to make things faithful. The central quartet is perfectly cast (who'd have thought fooking Wickus Van Der Merwe would be a great Murdoch?), and the character interplay betrays the obligatory origin story. Still, Joe Carnahan's film was met with a resounded "meh" on release, with lacklustre cinema receipts and DVD sales binning a planned sequel. A shame given how it was such a fun film in a summer dominated by serious movies. Whether you like the film really hinges on what you make of the flying tank scene. It's visual ridiculousness to the nth degree and, boy, does the film know it. But if it has your eyes rolling instead of adrenaline pumping, then odds are this just isn't the experience for you.
