10 Awesome (Non-Sexist) Girl Vs Girl Fights

7. Sharon Stone vs Rachael Ticotin, Total Recall

Alright, in cinema terms the Mission Impossible fight was the Disney version, Total Recall is the real thing. You've just got to love Paul Verhoeven: everything bleeds in his movies. Geysers of blood pour forth from the tiniest wounds. It's almost as if he's doing a sort of meta commentary on American film violence. Or maybe something (irony, censorship) was lost in translation when he navigated from his native Netherlands. He doesn't just pass off violence as an afterthought like most American film makers, but showcases it to the fullest in glorious excess. He may not seem to take a lot of things seriously in his films plot-wise (Showgirls, Hollow-man), but he always considers violence a very serious affair. Total Recall is widely regarded his magnum opus of violence. Bodies are destroyed and mutilated in every way you can possibly imagine. Every punch, kick, or gunshot gives birth to unimaginable mayhem and gore up to almost the last frame of film. It's ridiculously awesome, and the icing on the cake is the excellent girl vs girl fight that happens in the film between the evil Lori Quaid (Sharon Stone) and the resistance fighter Melina (Racheal Ticotin). They represent opposing sides in the effort to liberate the very screwed up mind of one Mr. Douglas Quaid (Arnold Schwarzenegger) and thus bring about the eventual salvation or destruction of the Mars colony. While the fight may seem rather tame considering all of the over-the-top action that happens in the film, it is still a brutal display of feminine force (and chop-socky style kung fu). Verhovan makes sure you feel every hit by putting extra emphasis on the pain these women are inflicting. This gives the fight, as exciting as it is to watch, a bit of a wince factor which is good 'cause then you're identifying with the characters pain. Even though Arnold has to come in at the end and kind of save the day, it hasn't stopped this fight from being a fan favorite and a great example of how scary Sharon Stone truly was in the late 80's - early 90's. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bb-XAB2q0rk

Raymond Woods is too busy watching movies to give you a decent bio. If he wasn't too busy watching movies and reading books about movies and listening to podcasts about movies, this is what he'd tell you. "I know more about film than you. Accept this as a fact and we might be able to talk."
