4. Peter Dinklage – Rememory

On paper Mark Palansky’s Rememory sounds kind of like a fresh take on the likes of Memento and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. A man named Sam (Peter Dinklage) is grieving in the aftermath of his brother’s death in a car crash they were both in and attends a lecture by scientist Gordon Dunn who has invented a machine that allows people to extract and relive their own and others’ memories.

After Dunn dies mysteriously, Sam sets out to find the machine to solve Dunn’s death and relive his own memories to come to terms with his brother’s death.

In execution however, Rememory is a bit of a chore to watch. A sci-fi mystery that fails to either thrill or mystify, it’s an interesting concept let down by maudlin tone and lousy script and made bearable only by Dinklage who gives a committed, emotional performance as the grief-stricken Sam despite Rememory’s faults.

But with Games of Thrones, forthcoming post-apocalyptic indie drama I Think We’re Alone Now and a rumoured role in the soon-to-be released Avengers: Infinity War on his side, Rememory will be much of a chink in Dinklage’s armour.
