5. Terrifier

Terrifier 2 has proven to be, not just one of the best horror films of the year, but among the scariest horror sequels, period. It's so good, it's easy to forget the first Terrifier is not all that great. As entertaining as the killer, Art the Clown, is, it loses a lot of points due to its meandering narrative and idiotic characters.

However, the way the story comes full circle is genuinely clever. In the beginning, Art is watching a talk show where a disfigured woman discusses how she survived an encounter with him. Unable to accept her appearance, the disfigured woman gouges out the host's eyes before breaking down in hysterics.

Our story then focuses on Art tormenting a group of passers-by, most notably a young woman called Vicky. Even though Vicky tries to evade Art, the malevolent jester eats her face off before taking his own life.

Although it's unbearable what Vicky experienced, viewers should feel a twinge of relief, knowing Art is gone.

But in the final scene, we see Vicky leaving the rehabilitation centre, revealing that she's the disfigured woman from the prologue. Because we saw Art watching Vicky on the talk show, it means the maniacal clown is still alive.
