10 Awesome Scenes In Awful Movies

1. Silver Surfer Arrives - Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer

Despite the promise of both the Silver Surfer and Galactus, the second Fantastic Four was almost as risible as the first one, with the exception being an opening scene which introduces the former character to us. Though the visual effects looked dated even at the time, the scene is well-directed, showing off the Silver Surfer's abilities, and the money shot is unarguably when he phases through a skyscraper and dashes out the other side. It was such a cool way to introduce a very cool character, giving hope that this might actually be a good comic book movie. Sadly, though, the rest is full of overtly goofy humour, boring action and performances that seem as though they were mandated by contract (which they probably were). In its most offensive bout of wrong-footing, the film transformed the popular comic book villain Galactus into a...cloud, which is up there in the Deadpool-from-X-Men-Origins stakes as being one of the dumbest things you can do to annoy fans. Ironically, director Tim Story did this so as not to disturb the planned standalone Silver Surfer film...which never came to fruition. Which awesome scenes from awful movies are your favourite?
