10 Most Awesome Spaceships In Star Wars

10. Alderaan Cruisers

The first ship ever seen in Star Wars was an Alderaan Cruiser, specifically, the Tantive IV. With its massive array of 11 rockets at the rear and the gun turrets mounted above and below, this type of craft looked like it could take care of itself, either outpacing any pursuer or fighting its way out of trouble. However, roughly a second or so after audiences thrilled to the sight of this unusual-looking ship, they were stunned into silence by the apparently never-ending bulk of the pursuing destroyer blotting out the entirety of the cinema screen. The Tantive IV might have been overshadowed by the victorious Star Destroyer, but fans have never forgotten it. To help link the prequels with the original trilogy, a ship almost identical to the Tantive IV was shown at the end of Revenge Of The Sith; however, the blue-trimmed ship there was eventually confirmed by the film's creators to be an earlier CR70 corvette, making the connection a little less direct. Of course, the Tantive IV wasn't the only CR90 to be shown on screen - another one was seen during the space battle with the second Death Star in Return of the Jedi, indicating that this type of corvette remained in use right up to the fall of Emperor Palpatine.
