10 Awesome Star Wars: Duel Of The Fates Moments We'll Never Get To See
1. Rey Vs Kylo Ren
While we did get to see Rey and Kylo Ren face off in the Rise of Skywalker, it certainly wasn't everything it could have been. The fight we were given was lost in a sea of nonsense as Rey was using one MacGuffin to find another MacGuffin. The Duel of the Fates however, would have seen to this battle properly.
Rey and Kylo met atop Mortis and began their epic battle, Rey with her double-bladed saber, and Kylo sporting a new mask to protect the facial scars he suffered on Mustafar. During the fight it is revealed that Kylo was the one who killed Rey's parents as they protected their daughter, because she was identified as a threat to Supreme Leader Snoke. This story certainly makes more sense than the half-baked idea surrounding Rey's lineage that we got in Rise of Skywalker.
Toward the conclusion of the fight, Kylo begins to drain Rey's life force using the new powers he picked up on Remnicore. It's not until Solo is contacted by his mother, Leia, that ultimately he follows in Vader's footsteps and gives in to the love in his heart. Sacrificing himself, he pushes his own life force into the dying Rey to save her life. With his last breath, Kylo tells Rey that her real surname is Solana.
That's right, there's no shoe-horned Palpatine connections in this version. Ben Solo does also not get a redemption in this version of Episode IX. The dark proves too much for him to overcome, which contrasts greatly with how his arc concluded in The Rise of Skywalker.
