10 Awesome Things We Learned From Comic Con 2013

6. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Pilot Is A Worthy, Whedon-Esque Follow-Up

Agents of Shield The pilot episode for ABC's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. premiered in its entirety at Comic-Con, and going from the reviews that have spilled out so far, it's another home-run for both Joss Whedon and the Marvel stable. The show's inaugural episode has been referred to as "Whedon-esque", and remaining tonally consistent with The Avengers even if it's obviously going to be smaller-scale by nature of its TV form. Cobie Smulders reportedly makes an appearance as Maria Hill, and praise has been lavished on the episode's quick wit, its fun twists, and its neat ties to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. One of the major question marks is Agent Coulson's presence in the show, and while most reviews have keenly steered clear of totally letting the cat out of the bag, we know that the explanation is only hinted at in episode one, as the solution is likely to play out over the course of the season. IGN noted that the explanation behind Coulson's re-emergence is too easy, but the show knows this, and there is a reason for it.
