10 Awesome Trailers That Tricked Us Into Seeing Awful Movies

7. Battle: Los Angeles

The trailers for Battle: Los Angeles were so strong that even when the negative reviews began to pour in, I simply couldn't believe that the film was a dud. The trailer had stars - Aaron Eckhart and Michelle Rodriguez - thrown into an absolutely insane alien invasion scenario, which appeared to be visually stunning and far more smoothly controlled than, say, the works of Michael Bay. Surely even if the plot wasn't up to much, this would be a thrilling action movie with visceral performances from its cast? Um, not quite. Firstly, yes, the story was paper-thin, but the real problem with the film is that, somehow, it's in fact boring; the action is woefully repetitive and more to the point, poorly shot such that it's often difficult to make out what's going on. This is a gigantic missed opportunity, and props to the marketing team for constructing such a fantastic trailer out of those few shots which do keep the camera still...
