4. Clash of the Titans
There was always going to be a healthy amount of skepticism surrounding a remake of the 1981 classic adventure flick, yet the first trailer for Louis Leterrier's Clash of the Titans seemed like it kept faithful enough to the original while taking advantage of the technological advancements that three decades had brought. The heavy rock tune sets a more 300-esque tone, though the sights of Gorgons, Gods and Giant Scorpions left many optimistic that this could be a rare remake that actually earns its stripes. And...all that hope evaporated the second the film began, and it was clear that this was a mindless, effects-driven romp that re-purposed all the components of the original film into a relentless action movie bereft of an interesting plot or characters.
