10 Awful 2014 Movies That Deserved To Bomb At The Box Office
3. I, Frankenstein
Budget: $65 million Box office: $71 million If you thought Hercules has had more than his fair share of cinematic adventures, the Greek demigod has nothing on Frankenstein - the mad scientist made famous by Mary Shelley's novel has been appearing on the big screen since the early days of cinema. Unfortunately, I, Frankenstein is about as far removed in every respect from the classic James Whale version as you could possibly get and stands as yet another dire 2014 release in which pointlesss CGI, terrible acting and a dreadful screenplay are characteristic of the production. Everything which makes the source material so special - the moral ambiguity of the monster and society; the chilling atmosphere - is discarded in favour of a relentless assault of chaotic action. When will Hollywood stop making these tiresome updates? The answer is anyone's guess, but, at least with more of them flopping, there's a chance that sooner or later they'll realise that audiences have long since grown tired of such drivel.
