10 Awful 2019 Horror Movies To Avoid This Halloween

9. The Curse Of La Llorona

The Conjuring Universe nobody really asked for continues to "diversify" itself in underwhelming and forgettable ways with this promising yet spectacularly dull film based on the Mexican folkloric myth of La Llorona (aka the Weeping Woman).

Even if you can ignore the fact that a Mexican story is being fronted by a white woman (Linda Cardellini) with white writers at the helm, this is a boring, cynical movie where every scare and plot twist can be effortlessly predicted.

Worse still, the main characters actively act against their own survival, and the links to the other Conjuring movies feel both forced and totally unnecessary.

Impressively, it's even snoozier than The Nun, and given that filmmaker Michael Chaves is directing the upcoming The Conjuring 3, expectations for that film have immediately dropped through the floor.
