10 Awful 2019 Horror Movies To Avoid This Halloween

8. The Silence

Though The Silence isn't quite the shameless A Quiet Place rip-off many labelled it as - it's adapted from a book published several years before John Krasinski's film started shooting - what it unmistakably is, is a terrible movie.

From the director of Mortal Kombat: Annihilation and Annabelle comes this low-effort post-apocalyptic Netflix Original following a group of survivors trying to evade creatures which hunt by sound.

Kiernan Shipka is really trying here as the deaf protagonist, and she's inexplicably joined by the talented likes of Stanley Tucci and Miranda Otto, but between the bland visuals, slack direction and, worst of all, painfully generic script, this is neither scary nor even basically entertaining.

Even as a hungover Sunday afternoon sit, you've got better options than this.
