10 Awful 2019 Horror Movies To Avoid This Halloween

3. The Haunting Of Sharon Tate

Everyone was so busy wondering whether or not Quentin Tarantino's Once Upon a Time in Hollywood would offer up a respectful depiction of Sharon Tate (it did), that most people didn't notice the decidedly more offensive alternate hiding in plain sight.

The Haunting of Sharon Tate comes from renowned schlock peddlers Saban Films and casts Hilary Duff - yes, that one - as Tate, in a leering, exploitative disaster of a film which reduces the Tate murders to a cheap exercise in trashy "horror."

Where to even begin? The acting is hilariously bad - especially Duff - the casting unconvincing throughout, the direction sloppy and the writing downright gross.

This is a film which makes the bold decision to imagine an alternate fate for Tate and her fellow victims, only to whip back and arrive at a tackier-than-tacky ending which undermines the little Inglourious Basterds-esque potential it actually had.

Writer-director Daniel Farrands is already in post-production on his follow-up, The Murder of Nicole Brown Simpson, which will probably end up on next year's list.
