Warner Bros faith in Reynolds proved horribly misplaced when Green Lantern opened to overwhelmingly negative reviews and flopped hard at the box office. Reynolds box office appeal had been seriously over-estimated. The 250 million dollar production made a paltry 116 million dollars at the North American box office and scored an embarrassing 26% on the review aggregator website Rottentomatoes.com. Scrambling for an answer to the success of Marvel's The Avengers, Warner Bros regrouped and in 2013 released the certified hit Man of Steel. Now Superman vs. Batman will arrive in theatres in 2015 intent on making enough money to warrant a Justice League movie. Hopefully, history will not repeat itself and Affleck will bring enough box office mojo to keep the Justice League franchise afloat.
