10 Awful Casting Decisions That Spoiled Entire Movies

2. Ben Affleck (Daredevil)

Daredevil While it's unfair to judge someone's performance sight unseen, in the case of Ben Affleck landing the coveted role of Batman, comic book fans can point to a precedent of a terrible superhero performance in Affleck's past: 2003's reviled Daredevil. The Golden Raspberries awarded Affleck with a Worst Actor statuette for his portrayal of blind lawyer turned superhero Matt Murdock. The fan favorite superhero could have produced cinematic gold but instead proved dead on arrival. Daredevil has become synonymous with the worst of the worst of superhero movies, in large part due to Affleck's miscasting. Affleck went on to rehabilitate his on-screen reputation with critically praised turns in films such as The Town and Argo but the memory of his Golden Raspberry-worthy performance in Daredevil casts a shadow of doubt over whether he can do the Caped Crusader justice. Time will tell if the recent fan outrage over Warner Bros casting of Affleck as its most beloved and financially successful superhero will pay off.
