10 Awful Comic Book Movies That Must Never Be Made

2. Clone Saga

daily_awesome_spider_man_art_collage_spider_eye This one speaks for itself. I tried to avoid composing this list of entirely 90s comics, but this steaming pile of sh*& could not escape. I've said a few times on list that certain ideas only worked within the more expansive spectrum of reality that is comics. Well, this idea was too convoluted and ridiculous for even comics. And I could easily see a movie repeating the same mistakes: stretching for way too long, too much studio manipulation of an already terrible idea, and the cloaking of a film that would take itself too seriously. I mean, could you picture the average film-goer trying to make sense of clones, resurrections, wrong identities and being wrong about wrong identities. And nobody would believe that Peter Parker was a clone. Because that's just dumb. As I already said, Peter Parker is an inherently likeable character, and in that rests much of his appeal. Well, if its tough replacing him with a villain, imagine the audience watching A CLONE. Someone who looks and basically behaves the same. Ok, with the villain, at least there was a change, a reason for such a seismic shift. But a clone? And not just one. While Kaine is in our good books now thanks to his latest series, for much of my time with the character, he was a hangover from the 90s, and emblematic of all the problems that this time represented. Thankfully its more or less safe to say that this story will never be made, as it rests securely at the bottom of everybody's favorite Spider-Man stories. With so many good ones to choose, this won't be a worry for at least another few centuries. Even then, it would be too soon. However, there is one more that supersedes even this. And you might not have guessed it yet.
