10 Awful Comic Book Movies That Must Never Be Made

6. The Walking Dead

Walking Dead Zombies and Karl

The interesting quality that both the Walking Dead comic and TV show share, is their apparent ability to endure perpetually. We can imagine our own tale of survival for Rick and the group long after the end of the show or comic, unless they all die. It is a quality that is afforded to both versions through their chosen medium. However, when the idea of a film is brought up, the largest problem would be the presence of the running time. I understand that there is only a finite number of stories to tell, however, the greatest strength of the Walking Dead in both forms is the evolution of the characters in response to their continual adversity. For a film to attempt to compress this would result in either a rushed and hasty mess of shallowness, or a terribly paced zombie film. And the last thing that the Walking Dead is, is a zombie film. It broke through the mold of cliches of zombie films and its popularity can be attributed to its originality. However, a film seems to defeat to purpose and concept of The Walking Dead. A limited story to tell, in a form that only exacerbates the problem. No, the Walking Dead is fantastic in both of it's current iterations. I believe that a film, while it seems likely, would have to tread carefully in its approach. Unless it can, it will be a poor mess of a film, which is why The Walking Dead is unsuitable for big screen treatment.
