10 Awful Comic Book Movies That Would Actually Benefit From A Reboot

If it wasn't for the success of Deadpool, Ryan Reynolds' association with the comic book genre would have been defined by abject failure after starring in Blade: Trinity, X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Green Lantern and then this notorious box office dud.

While the concept of RIPD isn't exactly the most original, there's still an awful lot of potential in a movie that could be described as 'Ghostbusters meets Men in Black'. Instead we got Reynolds repeating his usual shtick, Jeff Bridges rehashing Rooster Cogburn with one eye clearly on his paycheck and some of the worst CGI seen in a big-budget blockbuster this side of The Mummy Returns.

A supernatural buddy cop movie like RIPD needs a filmmaker with some visual flair and eye for the fantastical, and the director behind The Time Traveler's Wife and two Divergent movies wasn't exactly the right fit for the job. Even a little bit of imagination could have gone a long way for a comic book movie that on paper possessed all of the ingredients to at least attempt to clear the high bar set by its obvious inspirations.

I don't do social media, so like or follow me in person but please maintain a safe distance or the authorities will be notified. Don't snap me though, I'll probably break. I was once labelled a misogynist on this very site in a twenty paragraph-long rant for daring to speak ill of the Twilight franchise. I stand by what I said, it's crap.
