10 Awful Films Glee Actors Want Us To Forget
9. Girl Most Likely (2012) - Darren Criss
It is so hard to keep track of what's going on in Girl Most Likely. Produced by Kristen Wiig, the story follows Imogene - a New York playwright - who has her life turned upside down when she loses her job, her boyfriend and her apartment. She is then forced to move back home with her eccentric mother and awkward brother.
As soon as Imogene moves back to New Jersey, all sense of narrative is lost. There are so many scenes just frivolously shuffled together, you wouldn't know what the story is really about. Is it about Imogene re-building a relationship with her gambling mother? It is about her finding an unexpected romance with Lee - a man renting out her old bedroom? Or is the whole plot actually about her brother, Ralph, who has his own invention and is trying to bag a girl who works opposite him?
Imogene's character should have more depth and fragility to her, given how much she's been through, but every scene delving into her background barely scratches the surface. Ironically, the moments that are meant to be funny have very few laughs. Girl Most Likely had potential, but it needed a bit more fine tweaking in order to come across as a moving comedy-drama.
