10 Awful Films The Office Actors Want Us To Forget

4. My Super Ex-Girlfriend

Few Office stars had as deft a comic touch as Rainn Wilson, and he uses it as best as he possibly can in My Super Ex-Girlfriend. He plays Vaughn Haige, the crude best pal to Luke Wilson’s protagonist Matt. When Matt starts dating a real life superhero, Vaughn doles out advice that tends towards the crass, and laughs, in theory, are had.

To say Rainn Wilson is a highlight in My Super Ex-Girlfriend is like picking your favourite day of a lengthy term in prison. The concept is perfectly fine; the reliable Uma Thurman plays the titular super powered ex, a break up occurs, and scrapes follow.

The problem is that the concept then makes way for the film’s sole joke, which is that women are emotional! Thurman’s superheroics mesh with her womanly whims to cause untold chaos for Matt and the city of New York, while Rainn Wilson cracks wise and engages in some double entendres.

Wilson’s big screen resume is fairly slim, comprising mostly good to great films like Super and Juno. This is an outlier, but an unfortunate one.
